Mr. Stephen P. Dessauer is currently the Regional Supervisor for Regional Field Operations for the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Region, U.S. Department of the Interior, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. Dessauer brings a wealth of technical and regulatory experience to BSEE, having served over 18 years with the agency and its predecessors. As the Regional Supervisor, he oversees the various program offices within Regional Field Operations. These include Pipelines Section, Office of Structural and Technical Support, Technical Assessment Section, Decommissioning Support Section, and the Office of Safety Management. Mr. Dessauer had served most recently as Deputy Regional Supervisor in Regional Field Operations since 2017. Prior to that, Mr. Dessauer served as the Production Operations Section Chief for the BSEE New Orleans District. In this position, he oversaw the facility safety system permitting and offshore facility inspection program for offshore OCS facilities located within the New Orleans District’s area of the OCS. Over the years, he has served as an engineer in both the Well Operations group and Production Operations group within the BSEE New Orleans District. He has been especially active in the development of regulations and policy related to oil and gas Production Safety Systems. Mr. Dessauer was assigned to his current position of Regional Supervisor in 2019. He received a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University in 2000.
