Michiel Heuven is Global Operations Commercial Manager at SBM Offshore. He has over 24 years oil and gas experience spanning from project and operations management experience in designing, constructing, commissioning to operating international offshore oil and gas production facilities.
Michiel has been with SBM Offshore for over 11 years in which he was involved in a large number of projects. He participated in a variety of FEEDs for FPSOs, TLPs and a FSRU. He then moved on to be the Project Manager of the extremely challenging Encana project in Nova Scotia during hook-up and offshore commissioning then to the prestigious stones FPSO project to then becoming the Operations Manager for the Stones FPSO, the world’s deepest floating production unit. In 2018 Michiel was promoted to Head of Operations North America and Guyana prior to taking on a global operation commercial role in 2022.
Prior to SBM, he worked in various Keppel shipyards around the world managing major offshore projects for FPSOs, Jack-up and Semi-submersible Drilling Rigs, construction vessels and Crane Vessels.
Michiel has a degree in Naval Architecture from Hogeschool Inholland. He is also a certified PMP and Michiel is a member of the advisory panel to the University of Houston, Bauer College of Business, Leading High Performance Teams Certificate Program and a member of the advisory board of the Deepwater Operations conference
