Session 3: Swordfish: Using System Redundancies to Extend Field Life
Date & Time

Description

In September of 2019, the MC 917 #1 (“Swordfish”) well experienced a loss of communications and a permanent failure to the umbilical providing power to the subsea system. As the lone producer to the VK 826 Neptune Spar facility, fixing this well condition represented not only a life extension of the remaining well reserves but also a facility saving operation. Using a multi-disciplinary topsides and subsea engineering approach, the team was able to summon Apollo-13 like creativity to bring this well back home.
