Description
Production on Shell’s Appomattox FPS in the GoM has started in 2019. The semi-submersible FPS is located at Mississippi Canyon 391 in 2225m (7,300ft) water depth. The FPS has a hull weight of 40,000 mt, 16 mooring lines, top topsides weight of 22,300 mt with an oil capacity of 200 kbpd. The FPS provides processing and export functionality for the Appomottox and Vicksburg fields having a total of 16 production and 6 water injection wells. Future tie-back are anticipated. Unique features of the host are its 40 years design life and HPHT aspects. Presentation will provide a general overview of the field development with focus on the host design, fabrication and installation of the hull, topsides and mooring components along with engineering solutions to reduce environmental impact. Lessons learned from previous projects led to “Safety in Design” and replication with assistance of key contractors. Lesson learned from Appomattox will also be shared.
