Adel is a Technical Director with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, Houston, Texas. He retired from ExxonMobil as the Senior Principal Offshore Structures Engineer and has over 30 years' experience. Adel is a structural engineer and a licensed P.E. in the State of Texas. He studied Civil Engineering at Cairo and Rice Universities and Applied Statistics at Penn State University. His experience covers offshore structures, structural integrity management, structural reliability, earthquake engineering, and marine engineering. He authored the seismic codes ISO 19901-1, API RP2EQ, the reliability section of the Arctic Code ISO 19906, and the draft general requirements code, API RP2GEN, and over 80 publications including 7 patents.
