Mr. Jason Mathews is currently the Chief of the Office of Safety Management (OSM) for the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Office - Regional Field Operations, U.S. Department of the Interior, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Mr. Mathews is responsible for the supervision of all activities related to the review and analysis of operator compliance and incident data and coordination of the BSEE Gulf of Mexico Office's safety efforts. He also directs the review and audit functions of OCS operators’ safety programs.
Mr. Mathews has 19 years of experience with BSEE, including offshore experience in drilling, production, and workover operations in the Gulf of Mexico at the District, Regional, and Headquarters levels. He also represents the agency in multiple API work groups developing industry standards, recommended practices and technical bulletins.
Mr. Mathews earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University in 2003. He also serves as a high school football coach at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, La.
