Cathodic protection is a small, but extremely important part of deepwater facility integrity management programs. Understanding the results of a cathodic protection survey and nuances of individual systems such as impressed current versus sacrificial and impacts of coating are all required to successfully manage a system. All of these items are tied in to LLOG’s integrity management program. This presentation will discuss LLOG’s cathodic protection system on its Who Dat facility and a proactive remediation that was completed to provide a strong basis for potential life extension. The remediation trigger, design iterations, and current path forward will all be covered in the presentation.
